Out of college: NYC or Long Island I've lived on Long Island all my life and am now attending undergraduate college in Atlanta. I’ve had a lot of work experience and made many good business contacts on LI (I run my own Web development business there), but there’s a certain allure of living and working in NYC that keeps me thinking about moving there.

If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere ;-)

What part of the Island are you talking about? How far out are you? How difficult is it to get into the city from where you grew up for recreation or to commute?

I'm from the most eastern part of Suffolk, so it's a far commute of 1 hour on the LIRR.
Greg
Funny, I'm from the middle of Brooklyn and it's a 1 hour trip for me to get into the city, but I consider myself a New York City resident because, well, technically I am, and because it's such a big part of my life.

I suspect that one hour estimate may be wildly inaccurate.
Gustavo W.
Yeah 1 hour from montaulk seems unrealistic.

Ops. I meant to say most western part of Suffolk -- which has a one-hour train ride from my station to Penn.
