Calculated Column(s) or a View?

When to choose a Calculated Column(s) over a View?

Does use of Calculated Columns just create a View under the hood?

Any big gotchas with either?

Sorry, I forgot to mention that this is for SQL Server 2000.

i would prefer view, because calculated column is some view on your table data
i also had problems when generated insert sql statement included calculated columns into insert fields, but actually thats is the problem of that tool...

I've come to prefer views over calculated columns. Most of the time, I can tolerate sluggishness on data retrieval (i.e. reporting, etc.), but not on inserts and updates. Any of the calculated columns I've ever used seemed to slow the insert/update by more than I liked.
