Anyone else from Wisconsin

Are there any other Wisconsinites on JOS?  Northeast Wisconsin area perhaps?

Sure, why?

Just curious.  I don't think there would be enough people to hold one of these JOS meetings.

I'm in Racine.

Mitch, which Downtown are you from? I always assumed NY.

What about Madison?  Anyone else down here in Madison?

Well, I'm from Beloit, and lived in NE WI (Mercer) as a kid...

Are their any SWE jobs in Madison?  I could be convinced to move back there.

makinac:

Best recommendations:  check Dice, check Hotjobs, and check the classifieds at
madison.com... as usual, there are jobs but these days companies are
often hiring very specific skills... so you pretty much have to go look.

If you look at madison.com (the joint WI state journal and Cap. Times site),
check classifieds under headings 329 *and* 330.

Happy browsing.

A friend of mine just got a job at Epic Systems, which is a software company in or near Madison. Don't know much else about the job market since I live in SoCal now.

Thanks for the leads.  I looked at madison.com.  Nothing for me there.  At least Epic Systems is lenient in the degree majors they'll accept: math, physics, etc.

It's not very likely that I'll find something back there, but I do think about it once in a while.  I did apply to Avista out in Platteville last year, but they weren't interested.

A quick web search shows that Goeden's Fish Market has closed, so maybe it wouldn't be the same.  The Union terrace should still be there, though.

If I went back somewhere I'd prefer Madison, although Ann Arbor wouldn't be bad either, but in the current economic situation the job possibilities are top priority in consider place of residence.
