Book similar to the Asperger's one
There is a book by SF author Elizabeth Moon called "The Speed of Dark" which is written from the point of view of an autistic person. Very interesting.
This book reminds me of an interesting story I heard on NPR once about a very bright autistic woman who has a career in animal husbandry. She helps(helped?) design machines for slaughterhouses that treat steers humanely. Something like that anyway. Anyone recall this? I'm pretty sure she wrote a book about her experiences.
Maybe she had Tay-Sachs, not autism. I forget.
The woman you were thinking of is Temple Grandin, a researcher in "livestock behavior, design of facilities, and humane slaughter."
Thanks Will. Gotta add a book to my Xmas wish list.
