Researching a private company
I have a job offer with a private company and I'm trying to get more info regarding their financials, reputation, etc...
I ran a D&B report but there was no financials reported. I have discussed numbers with the hiring manager (CEO) but it's hard to get specifics and would love some corroboration.
Any suggestions, aside from google?

If it is a local proprietorship/incorporation, there are some information you can look up at your local city hall. If it's an incorporation registered in say New Jersey, you can still do some searching online.

You can also go to the courthouse and find out if they've been sued, at least in your own county.
If you are "just a programmer" you probably don't have much leverage to get info from the owners.
That's unfortunate, as I've found out a couple of times. That is, big talk, but company almost broke.

D&B report had the litigation stuff. Clean. Credit rating is fine.
I managed to push for numbers on my domain and they look good. Still difficult to know the corporate history without seeing the financials.
