Book sale figures
For programming/technical books, how many books might be printed/sold in the course of its shelf life?
I mean typically, a book doesn't sell 2 million copies world-wide does it?

Might help. Initial run is typically 3000 to 20000 books, depending on demand. I think some ora books have sold 200,000+ copies - typically these books are in 3rd edition by now. :-)
If you're thinking of writing, I'd suggest some web articles or magazine articles before you submit for an entire book.
That said, the process of formulating your ideas into a book proposal has value, even if the book is never written. I proposed a book on test driven development some time back; it didn't get published, but it was a good exercise. And, sooner or later ...

Thanks for the link Matt.
Curious more than anything else. I don't have a book in me, a 3 page pamphlet at most - that's what home pages were created for isn't it?
I am always asking the same question about farms and milk.
