Windows XP Disk Caching ISsue?
Windows XP keeps dropping system changes when I reboot my PC.
For example, I downloaded a bunch of files to the desktop, deleted them, then restarted my PC. They were back on the desktop when the system came back up! A zip file I had extracted to the desktop also had the extracted files vanish (but luckily the zip file was still there).
We use Novell as network authentication and when I log in Windows tells me “Your local profile is newer than your roaming profile. Would you like to use your local profile Y/N?” I always select Yes.
What is going on?

Your system clocks are out of sync. Keep them in sync using NTP (net time /setsntp...)
