A new era?

How refreshing: Microsoft announces a new product and an existing player does NOT go into litigeous mode http://software.ericsink.com/20040524.html#10169 .

I recently installed a new Eric sink in the bathroom, along with the Farrah faucet.

That would be more funny (not really) if that gag hadn't been made in these forums before...

I would really like to see his analysis on how free software like Subversion impacts his company. I don't think he would write such a thing because of the political situation, but I think he could pull it off.

The thing is, Free Software hasn't changed economics -- people need an incentive to care about your problems. And businesses which need modifications to free sofwtare may need to pay a disproportionate amount for customizations and maintenance, since the cost isn't spread over a bunch of purchasers.

If I was Eric Sink, I wouldn't mind draining into Farrah Fawcette.

Thats the wrong way round - Eric Sink could only be filled by Farrah Fawcette and that is a whole lot different........

Methinks it is better to have a hot faucet on top of the sink

I should think this thread is guaranteed to be Eric Sink free, since only the OP is intelligible.

I think the third poster was well articulate, too.

"Microsoft announces a new product and an existing player does NOT go into litigeous mode "

Well Eric is fairly chummy with Microsoft -- you can catch his writings on MSDN fairly regularly, and clearly he considers his relationship with Microsoft as valuable.

Interestingly Microsoft has been promising a SQL backed source control system for many, many years now (which is why SourceSafe is so amazingly dated now). Good that it finally appears to be on the horizon as whatever is included often gets adopted by default.

Fourth, I think, rather than third, but true.  It got lost in the plumbing.

His site should be Eric's Ink... Oops, it is... never mind.

"new era" is a $10 phrase applied to a 50 cent version control system.

Overkill.

My third grade teacher insisted I should eventually marry a girl named Kitchen.

I've heard 'em all.

Look, anyone that complains about their name has a million miles to walk in my boots...

Yea but don't you think it was a little pretentious of him to name his kids "Thyme" and "Heet"?

" Still, Hatteras has probably ruined my chances of becoming a billionaire by age 40.  I definitely blame Brian Harry for that "

Do you really think you can become billionaire by selling Vault?

The "billionaire" remark was a joke.

For what it is worth, Eric and his company have shown to be quite a few notches above the common rifraf in keeping a straight face through this.
Which is a lott more than can be said of some of the participants here. Namejokes? Only the bottom dwelling remains of puny wannabee school bullies hiding behind their cable modem can go that low.
