TechEd
Whats in the goodie bags this year? MS have extended the TechEd europe early bird discount till friday and I'm wondering what software attendees get this year? Is there a beta of Yukon in there? (In which case I may go)

I haven't seen one in the bag, but I just poked through it really quickly, and then dropped the non-essential stuff back at home to lighten the load. I did see Win XP SP2 RC in there (*unenthusiastic 'yeah'*)
If it's not in the bag, does anyone think there's still a chance of getting it at any of the breakout sessions, "cabanas", or the like?

OK, here's my official response:
Yukon is not included in the goodie bag. However, TechEd attendees may register to receive a copy of Yukon Beta 2. YAY!!! The little coupon which was in the bag says it will ship in 6-10 weeks...so they very well may include it in the bag at TechEd Europe.
However, there is no sign of Whidbey anywhere in the goodie kit (*sigh*). Here's what else we got (there's also a couple other trial versions of things from other vendors):
- Windows XP SP2 RC1 Update CD (Build 2096)
- MS Internet Security & Acceleration Server 2004 RC 120-day eval
- Windows Mobile Developer Resource Kit (including the O'Reilly .NET Compact Framework pocket guide)
- MS Office System Developer Kit 2003
- ASP.NET Resource Kit
- .NET Architecture Team: Architecture Series (a set of presentations)
- MS Security Webcasts
- MS Patterns & Practices (March 2004)
- MS Virtual Server 2005 Information Resource Kit
A lot of these are obviously freely available (like the webcasts, and ASP.NET resource kit). The best of it is Yukon, of course.

Ok thats sounds good. Yukon is the one I'm really interested in. I read somewhere else on the web (the inquirer) that they're planning another drop of whidbey for TechEd europe as well.

Joe-
I can't find where at the moment, but on one of the MS blogs, they mentioned that while Whidbey CDs aren't in the goodie bags, there are new build CDs available from a pavilion somewhere. Track down a blue-shirt that has something to do with Whidbey, he/she should know.

BTW a new build of whidbey dated 24-May has appeared on the MSDN downloads site. Slight problem is that at the moment the MS download manager is telling me it can't open the file.

Ooooh, thanks for the tip Greg!! I'll be sure to check that out. They gave us some more stuff today too -- SMS, MOM Express, and the Unix Services for Windows.
By the way, for all the advertising they do about 802.11 being all over the conference center, you think it'd actually *work* in more places, lol....

Greg, you were right. I just got a shiny brand new "Visual Studio 2005 Community Technology Preview" disc from the very nice folks at the Developer Tools & Technologies Cabana...
I've also played w/ Whidbey & Yukon some at the hands-on labs...some pretty cool stuff coming in these releases...the typed DataSet designer *finally* handles relationships on its own, hurrah! And there's drag'n'drop support for databinding (think back to MS-Access Forms).
