Quikview.exe on Win2K This is idiotic. There's no Quikview.exe on Win2K. Also, I searched on google. There's no download available. M$ says with Win2K it's not available. The behavior is by design. It was so nice. Why did M$ stop giving it. Does anybody know, where can I get it??? I need it badly.

WTF is quickview? What makes it so indispensible?
Mike
Quickview was a light weight file viewing application that would open just about anything. If you pointed it an executable it would give you whatever information it could find in the executable, if you pointed it at a word file it would give you whatever it could find in that word file.

Oh, I almost forgot. You can buy quickview plus: http://www.avantstar.com/

It's on windowsxp anyway under the folder: c:\windows\viewers\Quikview.exe

What is it you're trying to quickly view exactly?
Greg Hurlman
Huh, I don't have it on mine.
Steve Barbour
That guy did an upgrade or he got Quikview somewhere else. My Windows XP Pro installation doesn't even have a Windows\Viewers folder.
Chris Nahr
Quikview in practice turned out to be, er, not so quick. :-) It was usually no faster than just opening the actual application, so I expect that's why MS killed it.
Chris Tavares
You guys talking about me?
blaZ
I loved quick view. It had two big advantages. Firstly it allowed you to view files you suspected had a virus, and seoondly you could use it with files that were too corrupt to open.
Stephen Jones
Windows\System32\Viewers doesn't exist on my system either. That's XP Pro with Office 2003 installed. Either Quikview is an XP Home extra that's not in Pro (but I doubt that), or you got it with Office 2000.

It is now http://www.stellent.com/stellent3/idcplg?IdcService=SS_GET_PAGE&nodeId=127 I believe.
Just me (Sir to you)
I think also that it was Office 2000 Pro that installed it as after looking at it, I noticed that it was in english while all other system tools are in French.

Looking at the DLL Help database (who knew you could use it for exes?) it shipped with Win 95/98/NT and Office 2000

Blaz - does Quikview.exe run under WinXP? I've tried running it on my notebook with XPPro and Office2000 installed but can't make it work... Just curious
Darwin
Just to clarify, I am trying to run Quikview.exe as shipped with Office 2000 Pro on a machine running WinXP Pro...
