yahoo mail is slow as hell

When is gmail going to come?  I bet that will be fast without all the bloated HTML and junk.

It takes me like 10 seconds to read a message during lunch hours on yahoo.

I pay for yahoo mail actually... and I have sbc yahoo DSL as well, so I pay through that too.

it takes 10 seconds to load, not 10 seconds to read.

Try Oddpost:

www.oddpost.com

It's light-years ahead of Yahoo Mail (or for that matter, probably Gmail.)  It uses DHTML to emulate the look-and-feel of Outlook, and is wicked fast.  I've been a satisfied customer for 2+ years.  It's not free, but it's worth every penny.

Can't be.  Most of you devs are non-believers.  So if heaven doesn't exist, neither does hell.  So how can something be as slow as somthing that doesn't exist?

"Try Oddpost:"

"Account sign up is not available from this machine. Oddpost currently requires Internet Explorer 5.5 (or higher) for Windows. If you’d like to see Oddpost released for other browsers or platforms, please drop us a line at info@oddpost.com. Thank you for your interest in Oddpost!"

I can't because the idiots designed it to be browser dependant.  Well at least it's not hosted on IIS.

Most secure ever.

"So, given the challenges of application development, we made a very simple business decision: we chose to target the platform with 95% of the market. If, in some infinitesimal way, this choice bolsters Microsoft’s browser monopoly, that’s unfortunate, but Oddpost is a for-profit business, not a monument to justice. We don’t hate Macs, Opera, or standards, and most of us don’t even worship Satan. But market forces dictate our behavior. It makes no sense to exhaust half our development resources catering to 5% of the market. Until the Patron Saint of DHTML Development drops off the briefcase full of money, we’ll continue to focus on making the best possible product for the majority of people on the web."

IE 5.5 and up does not represent anything near 95% of the market. Therefore, their analysis is incorrect.

That sounds just like the GNU manifesto

"IE 5.5 and up does not represent anything near 95% of the market"

Where can I find some sources for this statement. What is the curent estimated browser useage? Anybody?

I found this (a little old):

http://www.google.com/press/zeitgeist.html , although it would probably underestimate IE usage a bit.
