Bugs in Delphi 7 ?

I'm slowly learning Delphi, in preperation for a move from VB 3 to Delphi 7. (Big jump!)

I've read a lot of complaining about how bug ridden D7 is and the desire for an update to fix those bugs. Lots of programmers complaining that they'd like D7 fixes before D8 was released.

Any truth to this?
I wasn't able to find any good list of confirmed bugs. Mostly a lot of gripping. Any truth to it?

Are you using D7 without any bugs?
Have you seen a D7 bug list?

We have been using Delphi 7 here since it was released. No major issues I can think of. Certainly nothing which has made me jump online looking for service packs or patches.

The worst (only?) bug I have found is that sometimes the code completion drop down box skips a line when you hit the up/down arrows. It fixes itself when you quit and go back into Delphi IDE.

The IDE sometimes comes up with access violation errors when you close it, but I suspect it is caused by Quickreport and/or our own components.

I haven't upgraded to Delphi 8 because as far as I can tell it only offers minor IDE enhancements, and .net functionality, both of which we don't need right now.

I have been using Delphi 7 since it was released and have no problems. There are a few bugs but nothing major or bigger than similar bugs I found using VB. The DbExpress technology seems to have a few bugs but I dont use it and I dont think many people do. If you are connecting to SQLServer or Access you can use ADO which works well.

Same here.  I don't run across bugs.  Like Craig I think many of the complaints center around DBExpress, which I would never want to use.

I think there is a bug list on the Borland site somewhere, where bugs/fixes/new features are listed and you can vote on which you think has highest priority for Borland to address.

There was also a recent posting somewhere on BDN that a "Delphi 7.1" fix is in the works to address whatever issues do exist.

Thanks for all the info.

Here's the info on Delphi 7.1 release:

I've used Delphi 7 since its release /without/ the patch, and found it to be solid.

In my experience, 99% of complaints about a buggy IDE are poorly written thrid party components that crash the IDE.

That's just my two cents.
