CA Visual Objects

I thought this was dead. It's not really alive, as CA says it supports only Win95, 98, and NT 4.
I installed a beta version, somewhere around '93-'95 (I can't remember exactly when). I didn't even manage to compile a "hello world". It just crashec every time I tried.
A pity. Clipper was my all-time fave language on DOS. I was fortunate enough to start with Clipper 5, and to learn from a book that taught me good habits - e.g., declare all your variables, use locals and avoid globals, etc.
Did anyone have any contact with VO?

I thought VB was bad until I ran into VO.
My memories are not nearly as rosey as yours, although I have no problem recalling my desire to mercilessly machine-gun anyone associated with the product.
Then again, it may have been because the product I was working with was an utter abomination
