How to open ppt from html page but not slideshow?

Dear all,

How can I open Powerpoint presentation (ppt not pps) from HTML page, but when opened it's not opened as slideshow, but as if we open Powerpoint apps and open the file from there? Where we can print, edit, add, etc etc.

Thanks,

What makes you think there would be a way to do this?

You can embed Word 2000 in IE, at least I have seen it. So powerpoint should be possible. Else just link to the file and powerpoint will load when clicking on the link.

To embed maybe it's like embedding a flash movie? You need to use the activex from powerpoint?

Try right-clicking on the link, and choosing "Save Link As...", or use Mozilla, which will open the .ppt file in PowerPoint (I'm sure other non-MS browsers do this too).

On the server, change the MIME type for ppt files to something like application/octet-stream.  It's possible the the browser will then give you the option to download (and open) the file.  IE, however, does sometimes ignore the MIME type coming from the server and does it's own thing based on the file extension but this still might work.
