How do you push out MS Office updates?
Pardon the detour from software topics, but I figured other people here might have faced this problem.
I've got a client that needs to push out an Excel 2003 update to several hundred machines. (KB834691) They can't use SUS because the current version doesn't support updates for Office.
They can't create an MSI wrapper and install it with Group Policy because the KB installer's quiet mode still displays a dialog with that requires the user to click a button. Of course, when pushed out with Group Policy the user never sees this button and the computer appears to freeze.
This is somewhat beyond my realm of expertise, but I'm trying to do what I can to help them. Is there another way of automating the rollout of MS Office updates? Or is sneaker net the only way? Surely not!

There are several tools available to push/pull changes on client hosts, but I don't know that part, so I'll others clue you in on the possibilities.
One possibility I know of, though, is an NSIS script. It can run totally silently, ie. no window or anything, and you can download stuff over the network. The hard part would be to install this EXE on all the hosts, and have it run at startup.

No apology is needed, because MS Office is software and pushing Office updates is therefore a software topic. Your posting is within the rules.

Another imposter poster. I would recommend getting SMS to push out your updates. Or if you wait, WUS (the successor to SUS) will be able to push out updates but only to your XP and Server 2k3 machines I believe.

Gads, man! Get off your lazy a$$ and get some exercise! Automation is over-rated anyway.
