Translation project

Dear Mighty All!

I am about to start an open project aiming towards translation of classical literature from english into my native language.
The idea is that a group of people sometimes visits the board to jot down their thoughts on a particular part of the text. Step by step, book by book the project will evolve. At least i hope it will.
I've downloaded BBphp , installed it , but got a feeling that it is oversophisticated and doesn't fit to the problem I faced. I plan to include text highlighting and introduce pointers inside the text to make the translation process faster and easier.
My question is - is it worth to write my own board? How long it may take?
what to use , PHP, Perl or ...? Do You know any free code that is trying to solve a similar problem?

It sounds like you want a Wiki, not a bulletin board. A Wiki is a collection of pages that can be edited & appended by viewers. I think it would be a good match for commenting on a literary document.

Hey, I call them like I see them, and seriously - it's like he's explaining where you'd use a wiki - lightweight text-based, open community contributions.

I don't force the wrong solution down people's throats, nor does MS ask me to.

Did I mention this is a really awesome job at a great company?
