Do you think SharePoint will kill all other DMS?

Do you think SharePoint will kill all other DMS(document management systems)?

No.  It will grab a fair chunk of the market (obviously enough) and extend the market dramatically for DMS.  But I can't see companies with Unix servers going for it as a rule.

My experiance in the Pharma industry says no they will not kill all the other DMS systems. Documentum is a major player in that area and they seem to be staying there. The investment these companies have made into that environment throughout the organization is staggering. The amount of customization they do and on occasion their software having to be FDA approved locks them into out dated versions often, but then when forced to upgrade they get cut a nice deal on support for converting the old scripts. In that industry it is not even a question of Unix vs Windows servers, they seem to be happy to buy whatever is best. The staggering costs at the end of the deal is in the man hours of retraining and in system conversion to switch away from an established system.

But for small companies who wants to sell DMS for 10-50 users (eventually 50-100), do you think will be killed by SharePoint?

That won't matter until the day MS decides to bundle SharePoint, claiming it is an indispensable part of the OS :)
