cut and paste tools

hi all,

Do anyone know any freeware that can be used to do cut and paste text that can be used to cut/copy from the virtual machine or remote connection session to the application running on main desktop ?

There [used to be | is ] a "remote clipboard" application available from MS (as an MSDN sample application i think) which may help you if you have DCOM network access between the 2 pcs.

Failing that I think you need to rely on the capabilities of the remote control app. MS Virtual PC has the functionality if you install the VPC Utils onto the guest PC. I am not aware of anything like this for MS RDC.

The April 2004 Dr. Dobb's Journal has some code for a 'shared clipboard' in the Tech Tips column. It sounds like it's supposed to work for any collection of computers that all have access to a common network folder.

Terminal Services on Win2K & above support ctrl-C/ctrl-X --> ctrl-V by default.
