user manual and online help
Hi !
I need to write an user manual for our application. I also would like to make this user manual available on the internet for our customers and also as part of the application help. Of course, I would like to find a way to write the whole thing only once and then produce a pdf an html and a rtf document from the same source.
What do you suggest me to use ? I have no experience with this matter....
Thanks !

Help & Manual allows you to do that. You can output:
- CHM Help
- HLP Help
- PDF
- HTML
- DOC
However I have switched to using Microsoft Help Workshop, which is free, and which worked very well for me.
My advice to you is to develop a CHM help file.
The sources will be in HTML format, which you can put on the web.
You only need to find a solution to transform this to PDF.

pdfcreator is a free tool ( based on ghostscript ) which gives you a pdf printer accessible from any app ( on windows )
Alternatively open office does a good job of writing doc/html/pdf.
As a help authoring system I use helpblocks - http://www.helpblocks.com/ from the people who made wxWindows.
