I just discovered there's a RDC client for OS X

Hi All,

I just found out that MS has a Remote Desktop Connection client for OS X. It connects perfectly to my XP PRO boxes and runs smooth and fast over my 802.11g network. I had been using VPC to work in Visual Studio.NET (I really like working from my PowerBook on the couch when in creative mode :) ), but this is way better.

This may not be new/cool to a lot of you, but I'm pretty stoked about it and figured someone here may enjoy it as well.

Interoperability has been part a of FreeBSD (and other open source OS's) for years. As you probably know, OS X is a derivative or FreeBSD.

I use it all the time, only downside to it is that it can only connect to the standard port. On the Windows clients you can specify which port to connect to which allows you to set up multiple people coming in through the firewall.

Works on Linux and FreeBSD; Should work on everything that's remotely Unix like. And you can change it to your hearts content.

I'm aware of both the FreeBSD underpinnings in OS X and FreeBSD's interoperability. I've used VNC, etc in the past and they all were too much trouble to be worth it. The Remote Desktop Connection service built into Win XP (reworked Terminal Services) is the only setup I've found that just easily works and is worth the hassle. I was surprised to find out that Microsoft had a client for it on OS X.

i've been using it for a while, only drawback back is that if it detects idle time (i.e. you're not interacting with the XP machine), the connection hangs and you have to strat over. It's annoying and i'm not sure if it's just my setup or if anyone else has experienced this.

KDE's remote display application understands VNC as well as RDB.
