Simple yet very confusing - MSword canvas

I know this is going to seem pretty pathetic to ask, but for the life of me i cannot turn the canvas off in MS word XP (2002), anyone know how to?

Tools, Options, General Tab

Uncheck "Automatically Create Drawing Canvas...."
