Joining an "offshore" organisation

I have been offered a very generous job/package with a large indian based "offshore" organisation, but local in my country. What do people think of the ethics of this?

I don't think you've been offered that position. I think you're testing us, to see what would we, eternal victims of outsourcing, do when the time came to sleep with our enemy.

Well, I would. Putting food on the table beats any sort of political stance.

If you can't beat them, join them.

At least you can join outsourcing programmers - you can be a front for them in the USA, and earn a hell of a lot of money.

You, however, can't join open source programmers and still accomplish your goal of having the money to pun bread on the table.

Well, that is, unless you are among the top 0.5% of the programmers who can make it big in open source, which promotes a rock-star-like economic situation, where a handful of people earn a hell of a lot (ESR, for instance) and 99% of the other barely scrape by.

The OSS programmers are far more damaging than the outsourcers.

It is absolutely no different than joining a Japanese company and working in America.

Research wisely and determine whether this is a job you want to devote your life to for the next few years.

You can join them if they are a reputed company like infosys, wipro, mindtree etc.

i would warn you to beware of some companies- like TCS.

Actually I really truly have been. But even so, it is more of a rhetorical question. And it is with one of the big two indian ones....

open source a bigger threat ???? "is this the right room for an argument"??

Yeah right. So Infosys is reputed and TCS is not? Does not seem like that from this article :

I am only speaking from what i have heard from TCS employees. That TCS is heavily into body shopping and dont take care of their employees well.

I know a lot of Infosys/Wipro folk and most of them have no complaints on the work culture. They pay you well.
