phonebook for cell-phone

I wonder whether we can have phonebook for cell-phone number? I can see 2 problems: privacy issue & pre-paid card/number.

In Sweden we have listings of cell-phone numbers as well as fixed phone lines.

The phone companies here restrict voicemail service on prepaid cards, and if you want a voicemail service on such a card you need to register with the phone company. This way you make yourself known, and they can tell who has which prepaid card number.

Also, you can buy add-on service to get roaming capabilities for your prepaid card if you are taking your phone abroad. This is a billed service, which also requires you to make yourself known to the phone company.

If you decide to stay anonymous with your prepaid card, then you will not be able to get the above services, but my take is most people other than gangsters want voice mail on their cell, so most people register their prepaid cards.

This way you get a rather high percentage of listed prepaid card numbers.

Probably now that you can "take your number with you" it'll happen.
