Absolute and Relative Margins?

Has anyone ever heard of Absolute and Relative margins?  Relative to the unprintable area and Absolute as measured from the edge of the page.  If so what applications have you used that supported them?

Also on the subject of text output I was wondering if using the Uniscribe API would be better than using the ExtTextOut function?
