FOSDEM
The 4th Free and Open source Software Developers' European Meeting was over this past weekend.
Two notable speakers, Tim O'Reilly and Robert Stallman, the latter giving his well worn speech, which I spose is how he manages to do it without notes and without slides.
Tim O'Reilly evangelised his Business Models for Open Source (or Free Software if you bend that way), and evangelised very well, even if he did give the impression that web services was kind of his idea for Amazon and the like. http://www.fosdem.org/index/interviews/interviews_oreilly
The Mozilla European group announced itself ( http://www.mozilla-europe.org ), and hopefully it will become a focus for institutional take up of the Mozilla family in Europe.
There's historically been more interest in Europe on treating Mozilla as an application platform than in the US and again its to be hoped that they can push this in the future.
That is all...
Oh apart from the very slick demonstrations of video streaming from VideoLan http://www.videolan.org and the cans and bits of string wireless networking.
And I suppose if you want to see the back of my bald head you could go here http://fosdem.3ti.be/s/v.php/Philippe.Bajoit/2004-02-21/1/resize/2/

I see you guys had a great time:
- Stallman decorating himself with a halo and posing as a Saint (-> massive ovation from the aufience)
- Stallman chanting psalms
But hey, now that the AVI is out, I am less saddened that I could not make it and so can the rest of us:

(fast forward to 2:30 minutes into the show for the juicy bits. Ok,ok, 2:25 if you are so desperate you also want to catch the geeks with the cheap prostitute leaving the room).

Does Robert Stallman == Richard Stallman? (Please don't tell me there are two of them).

No, I must have had a brain fade, or possibly I was trying to reduce the number of google successes against his name, subconcsiously.
