Damn it! I am going to post this. I've tried searching high and low but to no avail.

I am obsessed by the idea by now. I have to find this movie title I saw twosome years ago. I <GUESS>guess</GUESS> it was Michael Douglas, but I am not even so sure. Back then, I was not all too much in the habit of memorizing movie star names. At least not Michael Douglas. So, this movie I am trying to recall the title of is about a not-so-happily-married guy who's got some dues in his marraige to bemoan.

One fine day, he meets this achingly gorgeous, absolutely stunning, voluptous cheese of a woman and falls for her. His besottment for her grabs the best of him and he finds himself chasing her like he's bewitched. He's surely spellbound by her. He approaches her to pay his addresses to which she declines at first, but then succumbs, showing great effort in dispelling her inhibitions.

Now they're so much in love that he wants her for his life partner, so she incites him to kill her husband, a wealthy man, so they can inherit their legacy and wend their way to matrimonial bliss. Until then, their association has to face obscurity and deprivation, so the police won't have knots to tie together. If I recall correctly they have a deal, he's gotta kill his fancy lady's husband, in return for her agreeing to rid him off his wife.

All of a sudden, his wife is missing and he doesn't lodge it with the police 'coz he knows his prayers are answered. The woman he's expecting to marry has done it for the both of them, he thinks. To weed the last impediment to their unison, the guy, blinded by passion, does his part of the promise.

Soon after, he's hounded by the cops under charges of murdering the man, his mistress's husband. When he tries approaching the woman of his dreams, she pretends ignorance. She blatantly denies even knowing him. He has no proof now of their acquaintance, which was as mutually planned, to be covert.

He's lost his wife and his imposing girl friend. When he finds himself trying to conjure an escape route, his missing wife, who he thought was dead, suddenly turns up out of the blue. She claims to have left him for some space she needed in their relationship. He's in hot water now and begins to see how he'd been setup.His wife had hired his fancy lady, he realizes, to frame him for murder.

What's this movie? I have to buy this CD, so I can watch it again. Its not "A Perfect Murder"; a movie inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's "Dial M For Murder", both of which I have with me. I know of several movies that were inspired by "Dial M For Murder" that I saw 14 years ago and continue watching it every month or so, many of them from Bollywood too. But this one was something else. Any clue?

I've seen "The Lady Vanishes" too, its a nice one, but this one is not antique. BTW, I loved watching "The Lady Vanishes" and also "The 39 Steps" and "The Man Who Knew Too Much" talking of the same league.

Sorry, I don't know the title of the movie you are looking for. However, I just wanted to let you know that Michael Douglas did star in such a movie. Have you tried doing a search using one of the online movie databases?

Well the first piece of plot is like Fatal Attraction, boring husband finds enticing blonde. The rest is entirely different and sounds like a better film.

Meanwhile, they haven't deleted this thread, so I'll take the chance to talk my bellyfull about some movies I enjoyed watching the most:

(1) Philadelphia: 1993. Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, Antonio Bandares. MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE MOVIE. <CLARIFIED>I am NOT gay</CLARIFIED>

(2) Dog Day Afternoon: Al Pacino and the guy who stared Freddo in GodFather I, set in 1972. About a flop bank robbery that was supposed to take 10 minutes. In 4 hours it was became circus show with seven thousand cops waiting outside the bank for the two first-time loots, and in 8 hours it was the hottest thing on TV. Its got a compassion arousing climax though its filled with humour in the filling. Wonderful watch.

(3) RainMan, need I say more.

I now thhhhink, after a cursory brush, that it was more likely "Double Indemnity" that I saw. The name seems to ring a few bells and Google tells us it inspired "Body Heat".

Of course, it could be much older than 2 years, but I just saw it 2 years ago on HBO.

I had a similar thing going on.

I saw the middle and end of a film when I was about 11 (I'm 24 now), which my parents taped one night, and watched the next day. It was about a family that wake up to find metal shutters on all of their doors and windows, tons of slime in their house and strange symbols on all of their clothes. It had a great ending, but I didn't know the name/actors/country/year or anything!

Anyway, last year I googled a combination of [house, slime, symbols] and after about an hour I found it!

So, don't give up man!

I thought so too at first Andy, but in "A perfect murder" weren't the roles reversed. I.e. it Paltrow that fell for a handsome young artist, and Michael Douglass payed him?

Unless S. has the details scrambled?

Hard to image Douglass would've been in 2 remakes of the same old movie.

According to IMDB, "A Perfect Murder" is not the movie discussed here. As mentioned above, the plot of that movie isn't what is discussed here.

But, of all the Michael Douglas movies listed, it doesn't seem to match any of them.
