The End of The Forum Software

As many of you know I wrote a clone of Joel's forum approximately one year ago.  Both of the websites that host this software will be coming down for good in approximately one week.  This is simply due to the fact that I no longer have the time to devote to maintaining the forum software and do not wish to renew the hosting contract for the website.  I thought it was best to post it here so that if anyone still wanted to download the forum they could.  It is obviously not an exact clone of Joel's forum, he implements things behind the scenes that I did not replicate and it also does not include the new "bold topic" feature.

Latest version:

Early versions: (This is a free site w/ popup ads)

Thaanks for keeping them up. I've downloaded all three versions. Would you have any objection with them being distributed by email to anyone who asks?

I think it's really cool Dave that you decide to write a clone of this forum and made it available. I really like the minimalist design of the forum and I think people who used your code in their projects or personal sites are really appreciative of your donation.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

That would be ok with me Stephen.  (Emailing the forum to those who ask.)

I wrote a clone too, but it was a bit more specialized (for a family website).  I wanted to be able to upload and display pictures as well (including auto-resizing).  Its not done yet (still need to have browsing older topics, and search, and pictures) but in a couple hours more work it should be.

It uses perl and template toolkit, and saves to mysql.

If anyone is interested, I'll post a topic here when its finished with a link to download it.  If not, I'll just keep it to myself.

It will be GPL.

KS:

You may use the code.  Feel free to modify it to suit your needs.  That is the reason I wrote it.
