1 in. Margins? Why is it that in MS-Word if you choose 1 in. margins that the actual margin from the edge of the page is like 1.5 - 2 in. Is this normal or is there something wrong with MS-Word or am I doing something wrong? Maybe I should be using something better than Word? Any recommendations?

You're doing something wrong! I suspect you are using letter size paper in the printer but have the page set to print as A4, whch is narrower. Either that or your printer's stuffed!

Agreed, I've never had a problem with margin definitions in Word. That said, double check your margins, page type, and printer settings (and the paper you have loaded). Sounds like there's an error in one of those and not the application itself.

My last printer's test page had a series of lines that went off the page. You told it which was the last one that made it to the page. I would if it could be a calibration error in your printer, or as a previous poster said, using the wrong size paper, though I don't see how the wrong size paper would affect the left/top margin as those are typically fixed with a variable right/bottom paper size.

Check the "Gutter" size in the "page setup" settings dialog
