The Borland Brain Drain

Looks like the talent drain from Borland to Microsoft is starting again :

Borland does seem to be a good recruiting ground for Microsoft.  Borland trains them and Microsoft swoops in and refines them.

I particularly like the quote "She added that Borland is undergoing an image change: "Borland has historically been a leading-edge company. That is a fine image to have, but if Borland really wants to be taken seriously in the minds of CIOs, who are now being held accountable from the line of business, they need to shift their focus and how they approach the market."

So, if they're not to be leading edge now, what are they?  Me-too product shippers? 

Quite why they want to appeal to CIOs is beyond me as they produce developer products and not IT products.

Scotts Valley is a good place to grow programmers. Much better than Redmond. Scotts Valley gets more rain yet has more sunshine and you can surf 10 minutes down the road in Santa Cruz.

But Redmond ultimately pays better.

Yeah I heard that Anders Hedberg left Borland and went to Microsoft.

I heard Ulf Nilsson is also not working at Borland.
