"Windows Media Player" shortcuts on XP

Any specific reason why there is a duplication of shortcuts for only WMP? In Start-Programs & Start-Programs-Accessories-Entertainment?

Media Player 6.2 was installed under the Accessories->Entertainment subfolder by default in earlier operating systems.  I know this is true for Win98SE.

Then Windows Media Player 7 and 8 came out.  Their target was to compete with Winamp and/or the other audio/video media players on the market.  So they installed themselves in a more prominent location.

I presume that WinXP installed the shortcut in both locations for Win98SE users like me.
