iTunes store design Got my daughter an iPod for xmas, and I wanted to set up an "allowance account" through iTunes so she can download songs.

Not sure the point, but if it's that the apple web site is poorly organized and laid out, I agree with you.

Just download the software and be happy with iTunes. Maybe one day you'll get yourself an iPod.

s'okay - no rush. Idiot that I am I forgot that Jobs used the iPod for another crusade, and I didn't buy a firewire-USB adapter.
Philo
How could it be for a crusade? Apple was on the USB bandwagon before PCs, just as they were on the Firewire bandwagon before PCs. They don't have a vested interesting in killing one at the expense of another.

"Syncing with USB 2.0 (Windows-only) requires optional USB 2.0 + FireWire Cable."

Hope your daughter wasn't too disappointed!

When I go to the store.apple.com site, I see two links to buy gift certificates. Both are in the right column. The first is a text link in the list of top ten sellers. The second, further down the page, is a graphic of a gift certificate with the text "Give the Gift of Music." Clicking either one takes you to a page that allows you to specify the sender, the receiver, the receiver's e-mail address, the amount, and a personal message. If you fill those form elements and continue, you see your shopping cart and can checkout. Doesn't look like iTunes (or a windows/mac box) is required...
