Why do companies continue to use the word "Master" for products?

Look at what happened in LA with regard to Master-Slave IDE terminology.

Why should we use the term 'Master'?  Because the english language, has the advantage of allowing the same sound to have slightly different meanings, or even greatly different meanings in different contexts.

Oh for the love of Cripes...Because the Master-Slave relationship is a valid and very easily digestible paradigm.  These are non-human objects! Ya know dude? LIke when people (seemingly usually women) demand an end to "objectification"?

See, there is a value difference the non-sociopathic among us make and that is it is okay to not offer respect and dignity to inanimate objects.

The people in LA who felt there was enough breathing room in the California penal system to make a legal stink of choice of computer terminology would be better off using their spare time to visit one of the many area psychiatrists.
