2. CityDesk probably wouldn't exist if Joel wasn't the kind of guy who reads lots of books. Otherwise he'd be one of those 'there's nothing new under the sun, I only do what I'm told' programmers.

I tried installing under Wine. Didn't work.
Citydesk on Linux would be cool.

IIRC (can't find the link) Joel only makes a Windows version because the sales from producing a version for Linux wouldn't be worth the added investment or taking staff resources away from making the Windows version as good as possible.
Or maybe I'm just putting words in his mouth.
In any case, with free-as-in-beer stuff from Movable Type to Slash out there, I doubt there are enough potential customers to make a Linux version of CityDesk profitable.
