Poll on the use of RSS Aggregator
How many of you here use a RSS aggregator to read blogs, news etc.? Has it reduced your web surfing?
Personally, I use it extensively. I am able to get more news/information in less time. I hardly surf the web for news any more. I only use browser if I am looking up something particular like answers to technical questions etc. And also to visit this forum. I wish this forum had an RSS feed so I can only read the discussions I am interested in.
What are your thoughts?

I found the same thing. I was constantly hitting sites to see if there are updates.
I now use SharpReader to get my info.

The search at the side of this forum may be lacking, but in this case, searching for "RSS" does actually return useful results without even going to Google...

That only provides a feed for Joel's articles, not the forum.

Awasu has a plugin that generates an RSS feed for this forum.

Ah, my bad. I apparently didn't read the original post carefully.

Joel has stated in the past that the design decisions he's made about the structure of the boards -- including the lack of RSS -- is quite purposeful, in the pursuit of community.

I for one would like to hear Joe's comments on http://www.awasu.com/downloads/ThirdParty/JoelOnSoftwareForum/
I have been tempted myself to write a JoS monitor but refrained from doing so since I believe it clearly goes against Joels "the dynamics are shaped by the interface" intentions.
Joel?

My $.02
I use and love Bloglines -- http://www.bloglines.com -- because it's so damn easy to use and it's web-based, so I can check stuff from work or from home (It remembers what articles I've read since my last session, by folder.)
It's what I use to read JoS these days, but I do read the discussions sans aggregator.
Plus, the aggregated sites are stored in OPML format, easily shared: http://www.joegrossberg.com/bloglines.opml
