desktop/laptop speaker

I want to buy speaker that can be used both on my desktop and laptop. Any recommendation?

Any speakers fit that criteria. Could you be a bit more specific?

A crucial bit of information is whether you want to travel with your laptop speakers. If so, check out these speakers from Sony, which I just bought and am happy with:

(a ridiculously long URL; if it doesn't work I'll try using tinyurl.)

Don't expect great sound, but it's better than your built-in speakers on either the desktop or laptop. And it'll work with a Walkman, iPod, minidisc, or other portable player.

The all-digital speakers only work with computers, I believe, not with portable audio players. Be sure to get an active (powered) speaker system. On digital models the power is provided by the computer through the USB port. On analog models it's provided by a battery or wall wart.
