All I want for Christmas

Watched the new Matrix this weekend. Not as good as I hoped, and I really thought that the fight scenes in the first two were much better.

Having said, that, there was one thing that I did like, and that was the APU (Armored Personnel Unit). I want one of those for Christmas. (A real on please)

Any other Chrismas wishes out there.

Can I wish for something for my employer? I can? Oh good.

A clue.

I'd just like a snazzy new shuttle system with all the trimmings. Plus a laptop would be nice.

And a full set of Buffy DVDs, and Space: 1999, and that "24" series looks good, and I wish they'd bring out Due South on DVD.

And some pastel pink wool and black soutache braid so I can make that coat. Plus a roll of light cardboard so I can make some new pattern blocks. And world peace.

You see? I'm not greedy, I just want a lot.

APU owners might just want to consider throwing some armor over the cockpit area.  That way you can play squid skeet for longer without having your face ripped off.

Bruce: I just saw Revolutiuons last night and my first thought when I saw the APU's was "where the hell is the armor for the operator?"

Why cool looking, there were several serious flaws in the design. (which, IMNSHO, can be said for the movie as a whole.)

Have not seen the movie yet, but isn't that the Aliens loader tool?

I just want a new job as I'm loosing mine five days after Christmas because I am geographically undesirable. One door closes, another one opens. Oh, and I want an iPod.

Oh yeah, and isn't the whole concept a complete rip-off of the mobile infantry suits from "Starship Troopers"? Which was written in what year? 1950-something?

The website says that the armour was removed from the original design to enable better view of the actors.

Haven't you heard of transparent armor?

A job, my contract runs out end of year.

They could have at least replaced the armor with a windsheild.  We could pretend that it is really really hard glass.

After the second movie, I am not particularly interested in the welfare of the characters.

Regarding the oft lauded fight scenes from number two - maybe myself and my wife are the exception, however most extended fight scenes left us scrambling to find the fast forward button (we just had our daughter at the time of the theatrical release, so it was left as a rental) - These scenes could only go on for so long (like 5 minutes...) before it's just monotonous and unnecessary, and visual pointlessness.

Peace on earth and some really groovy war toys.

A First Person Shooter game would rock too.

On the matrix: Much like the Highlander series, they took an fantastic first movie, and then repeatedly lowered the bar.

The scenes with the robotic armour reminded me of Thumb Wars.

Obi's voice: "Use the instrument panel Luke, that's what it's there for.  It's a complex device designed to shoot tiny objects moving at hight speed..."

Not a true quote, but I think you get the jist....

There's a great review of the Matrix at http://www.player.org/pub/flash/writing/matrixlessons.html

My favorite quote:  "The Keymaker opens a door for Neo and is killed. That's sad, but also nice, because the Keymaker is the only character who dies before talking too much."

And back on topic... yeah, a job would be nice.  Perhaps a nice part-time coding job I could do from home?  And an electric motorcycle with decent range so I don't have to ride public transit (which would be great if it weren't so... public.) to campus.  (=

"and that "24" series looks good"

This is the best written show on television, maybe the best written show in the history of televsion.

(Just finished the complete season 2 set of DVDs.)

Ooh, can I change that request for an electric motorcycle to one of these?  http://www.forbes.com/lifestyle/2003/11/04/cx_dl_1104vow.html
