.NET where to start?

I have been programming in VC++ for the past 6 years. Also done some 2 years of Vb development. I want to move on to .NET. Would like to learn programming in C#, VC++.NET. Where to start? Any good books? What about the .NET Framework? Is there any help/index to locate the Win32 SDK equivalents?

APress has the majority of the best book on .NET that I've come across so far. Best way to learn any new language is to pick a topic that interests you and dive right in.

I just started a little project to create a telnet server using C#. I've actually read around 7 books on .NET, but nothing beats getting your hands "dirty" with code. I've had several "Aha!" moments this week just learning the differences between VB.NET and C#.

The best way to start is by trying to get a grant to learn .Net.
