PHP and Unicode work without any problem

Hi,

My wife uses Php and Postgresql from Debian distribution for more than 1 year. She had no problem using Unicode. (I installed and configured system for her).

All of Php scripts are encoded in UTF-8. The whole database is in Unicode too. It just works! You can enter data in any language, it is stored on SQL server and can be displayed, searched and changed.

So, the following is not complete true:
When I discovered that the popular web development tool PHP has almost complete ignorance of character encoding issues, blithely using 8 bits for characters, making it darn near impossible to develop good international web applications, I thought, enough is enough.

Probably, you'll have problems with some encodings, but not with the UTF-8!!!
