Vendor vs Manufacture Specs

Here's a hardware question

A HP Pav a265c
HP Specs say max 1GB RAM (PC 2700 DIMMS)

BUT the mobo specs note a max of 4GB RAM (PC 3200 DIMMS)

So whats the deal?

NOTE: The mobo has 4 DIMM slots,
mobo specs found here http://tinyurl.com/pwwc

Crazy idea -- why don't you ask HP? It's probably a typo.

Did just that...they said that is thier spec and while different from the mobo's spec they won't support anything except 1GB (2X512 PC 2700).

I guess 'support' is the word in play here, but I'm not sure why...

There you go. For the record, I've never had anything but trouble from HP desktop machines. My office bought eight or ten of them a few years ago, and none of them lasted longer than eight months, IIRC.

Possibly they used multiple mobo's and simply published the least common denominator, for system specs?

so its fair to say the board's spec supercede HP's?

Not if you want support from HP.
