project with PDF

i've created a project in director which is a sales cd-rom displaying product datasheets in pdf format using the pdfxtra for director.

when ditributing the project on cd, the acrobat reader is also on the cd next to the projector/main director movies. However launching acrobat takes too long at the start. once it is open it is fine and opens the pdfs ok when in the products section. its just at the start, when director launches the acrobat reader from cd it takes too long.

any suggestions to make it open quicker or using a different method would be really helpful.

Hello, Lars!

My advice is to display this product datasheets as images, like JPG, etc. This way it will be opened faster. Also, this is very easy to make with using this this information:

Get one of the many PDF libraries that there are around for your platform/language/environment and just display it in your own wrapper application.

No need to deliver Acrobat.

http://www.pdf-tools.com/en/products_pdfviewerapi.html is an OCX you can embed into a simple Windows app.

hi i´m in the same case but i find that if you buy an extra of director (impressario) you will see the document page by page and u can zoom in or out, or if you want you can print it
