customer-set priorities

Hi folks,

I reckon I am in familiar territory: several chiefs telling me what to do next..

Of course the standard sensible thing to do is have a unified prioritised list of tasks/issues/suggestions/bugs, showing exactly what I ought to be working on.

Trouble is, these chiefs are scattered around the world in different timezones.  So no paper-based list on my desk is going to help me here.

Is there any simple web-based equiv?  I search for these things, don't want complications and extra features, just a prioritisable list.  All bug-tracking software etc seems to have categorised priorities (high/low) rather than just a sorted list.  Todos seem equally unable to simply 'add before' or 'move down' tasks.

Anything you folks can point me to?

I did find one once that was pretty basic, but I went back to Ecco :-)

Thanks FredF,

I've been tirelessly going into each of those projects, but have yet to find one where the priorities are as listed, and not categorised :-(

If I let people tell me that something is important or not, obviously everything is going to be marked as 'important'!  That doesn't help.  I really want them to list things in a very certain priority so there is no confusion as to what I should prioritise.

" everything is going to be marked as 'important' "

Therein lies the challenge of managing your customers. You are a lucky developer if you can get your customer to prioritize 1...n the list of requirements they have and keep it long enough to get through the first item on the list. This isn't a bad thing, but just shows that we as developers need to be flexible to accommodate those making money from our labors.
