Searching web pages you have visited?

Hi,

Anyone know of a good, simple program that searches the web pages that you've visited?

e.g., lets say I know I visited a site about turtle mating habits, but I can't remember the site name.  if I could do a google search, restricted to the sites in my BROWSER HISTORY I could probably find it.

There WAS a program called MantaDB, but it was for ie 5 only.

Any suggestions?

Hmm... it should be pretty easy to write a proxy that saves information for searches... Maybe that'll be my next project :)

Oh yeah, what about hitting CTRL + H and clicking Search (assuming you're in IE), in Firebird you don't even have to hit Search, it pops up automatically.

I've wanted something like this for years.  Of course, I use multiple computers and platforms, so it's probably not all that practical.

I did see such a feature in the OmniWeb browser for Mac OS X, though: http://www.omnigroup.com/applications/omniweb/gallery/

I had a java program that did this a few years ago, but the database got pretty bloated after a while, depending on your browsing habits.

Try using WWWOFFLE for caching pages you've browsed along with one of the search options suggested on the wwwoffle homepage ( http://www.gedanken.demon.co.uk/wwwoffle/ ).

MarkTaw,

My understanding is that Searching the history will only search for text in the TITLE of the links. That's nearly useless for my needs. (Titles are often poorly or inaccurately named).

...Yes, just confirmed: doing a search from the History doesn't find text that's IN a page in the history.

Oh, that sucks. Sorry. Maybe I'll see if I can dig up that old program that searched your old web pages. It got slow after a whlie, but if you keep it down to a week or so it kind of worked. I guess it wasn't that good though since I've stopped using it.
