Does anyone have a link to free icon packs for general app development i.e. save, open buttons.

It's fairly easy to make your own icons. After all if you are not goiing to use the standard buttons that came with the IDE then why use somebody else's

Thanks, Smitty. That was just what I needed:-)

No problem at all.  Glad to help.

Its easy to make icons, but then they tend to look as if they dropped out of a cereal packet circa 1963.  Its very hard coming up with an icon that associates well with anything that doesn't need considerable explanation.

True enough, but why bother to change the standard  save, open exit and other Widows icons in the first place.

And for your app you want to make onw.

Actually if it was a rule that all company logos had to fit into a 32 x 32 pixel square, all the horrible logos Third World institutions insist on would have to be replaced.

Well, the main reason you'd want to change the standard icons is to fit in with all the rest in your app. Maintaining a consistent style throughout a product is important, and unless you want to do all of your app in the exam same style as the windows icons, I can't see that you have much choice.

However, if you mean changing the functional logic behind icons, for example, "save" stops being a floppy disk, then I agree that you'd have to have either an exceptional reason, or something wrong with your brain.

Yea, but are you likely to get a consistent style from a pack of prefabrcated icons.

One trick for icon creation is to edit them in your nomral graphic program.

Oh sorry Stephen, i'd missed your point about if it was an app you'd be making your own anyway! I think because you spelt it "onw" and then my mind kind of spell-checked it out...

In that case, yes, we're in agreement then!
