Ergonomic chairs? I'm looking for ergonomic chairs for the office, and since Herman Miller chairs are kinda pricey (Mirra sells for a good 800E in Paris, Aeron start at 1,000E and up)... I was wondering if you would recommend other brands I should look at.

I'm not offering an alternative, but I will say that the Mirra is worth every Euro. 800 of them is worth it. I've never been more comfortable when working.
Tim Sullivan
Thx Tim :-) For those interested, they're down to $519 on some sites, free shipping in the US.

A while back in the late 80's there were chairs that had 2 areas for body contact, your knees and your bum. I got one as a birthday present it was very comfortable. Virtually eliminated slouching. There is some time needed to adjust (balancing weight load evenly on your knees and behind).

Thx for the link. I did try those once, but never got used to them. I'd rather slouch :-)

Having spent ample time in both the Mira and the Aeron, the Aeron is much more comfortable than the Mira. The Mira's back piece is almost hardened plastic, and if you're not a "well padded" developer, it really isn't very comfortable on your bony parts like your sholder blades.
Elephant
Aeron's last a LONG time. Almost certainly ten years. So you're talking about 10 Euro per person per month which I assure you is less than you are spending to provide them with a telephone in their office.

This is my dream chair. No one at work would dare mess with me if I had this chair.

Doh. Link didn't work right. I meant the Galaxy model.

I have been tempted to get one of those knees-and-bum chairs, but I have bad knees. Does anybody know whether they really do mess up your knees (worse, in my case) or not? Anybody notice knee problems from using one?

Thx everyone :-) Since Elephant mentions that the Mirra chairs might not be as comfy, I'll go back to the store for some more serious testing. Shall I bring "War & Peace"?

When did costco start selling Bauhaus designs? What is this world coming to?

Knee/Bum chairs and knees..... after a little tweaking you can adjust the chair to give even distribution of weight between you bum and knees.

Since 2 weeks, I have a Mirra chair.........Mirra is as comfortable as the Aeron chair and Mirra is much more easier to use as you don´t need any instruction book to adjust your seating position! By the way, Mirra is so comfortable that I use the Mirra to watch TV.
