NBOR, "revolutionary" software, arrives today?
Has anyone else here been awaiting the release of the NBOR/Blackspace player on January 15? There's been some hype about this software akin to the early Segway rumours--it's going to change the world, etc. I'm intrigued after reading through the website http://www.nbor.com (even though they used a horrible font for headings). But, dang it, it's the 15th and nothing is available, yet!

I can't believe someone can fill whole website with talk about nothing. They talk and talk and talk about nothing. There's never a definitive statement about the end result of the product nor is there any proof that the thing even exists or will exist. Lame. Stupid marketing stunt.

That *is* interesting: of the 10 "different" results displayed by Google news (which excludes the other 60 results that Google describes as "very similar") there are 7 entries which begin like this:
"The software, called 'No Boundaries Or Rules,' or NBOR, includes an intuitive user interface for writing, drawing, compiling multimedia presentations and ..."
I hadn't realised that the so-obviously self-promotional press releases that companies put out are so widely (and so verbatimly) reprinted by the media.

You see, we all have heard of and seen stealth marketing wherein some shill pumps up his product with seemingly innocent questions posed to discussion groups. So anything that looks even remotely like a stealth ad is going to get lambasted.
The only way your innocent inquirey can be taken seriously is to begin in a totally negative tone. Oh wait, then some other stealth marketing shill could lambaste you for being negative and get in a free ad at our expense with his positive assessment.
So start out as positive and take the flack and have the negativity make itself look bad, then bring in another shill to support your position and he gets in the free ad.

I'd never heard of NBOR or Blackspace before reading this thread. But one comment caught my eye in a linked article:

I was involved in the beta testing. its just about the crappiest product Ive ever seen, basically they make everything into a 3d thingie and force you to interact with it through that.
Not a bad idea, who would have thought that it would turn out to be such a painful experience.
(for instance, imagine creating a text document using a 3d editor.....see any benefits??)
About the only good thing I can say about it is that the application itself goes from running to quit in approx 3 secs when so instructed...almost fast enough to satisfy me.

Ive _nearly_ used it as well...their service is absolutely awful though, and dont expect a refund when you point out that their software doesn't work and is just plain crap.
Im assured that the idea is revolutionary, but the software is a buggy and shitty as anything Ive ever used.
I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't the fact that the company allows morons to work in its support department.

add another person with problems. turns out that their help was written by a monkey with a bad memory and poor grasp of grammar.
the biggest problem IMO is that the images and graphics are rendered _very_ poorly, in the age of MacOSX to show us all how good graphics can be, this program harks back to an older era of pixelated images and skewed rotations.

one of the kids of a friend of mine was involved in the recent testing. A bunch of them were forced to use it over a decent period of time.
my friends kid slowly went blind while using it.
Now, Im not saying that its the fault of NOBR, but its an interesting coincidence if you ask me.

It's extremely annoying to read a fairly straightforward topic in which someone mentions an issue or a problem, mentions a tool or service they're using they find useful or interesting, then have members of the Idiot Clown Geek Policie come riding up squeaking endlessly about "marketing." NBOR is the stupidest piece of shit I have ever seen. And trying to charge $300 for a piece of crap? A two-year-old monkey on a typewriter could write it. Well, you idiots who wrote it, tell your boss to stop paying freaking people and schools to buy your fucking program.
