I hear from a friend that Northrup in Omaha will probably be hiring developers sometime this spring. AFAIK, at the moment they are converting some fortran systems to Java. Solaris experience desired.

> converting some fortran systems to Java.
Funny story about the one that got away. Sometime in the 80s the company I worked for had a major project to convert a lot of Fortran to Ada for the Gov't. Thousands of man hours of work.
I was shooting the bull with one of the project managers in the hallway who was wondering what he should do with a summer intern he had just taken on. I said, half jokingly,
have her write a Fortran to Ada converter. I was thinking not only was it a dumb thing to do but it far exceeded anyone's expectations of what a summer intern should do or could do in 2 months.
They had her do it. She was successful. It saved the company millions. She got a better job offer elsewhere upon graduation and never came back.

Great. They will alternate work for one year with one year vacation. Some may call it pair programming :)

"I said, half jokingly, have her write a Fortran to Ada converter... They had her do it. She was successful."
Might this be the same intern who wrote an ASP to PHP converter for Joel?

"AFAIK, at the moment they are converting some fortran systems to Java. Solaris experience desired."
What would Solaris experience have to do with it? Just because the Java is going to run on Solaris doesn't mean the developers have to know much (if anything) about Solaris.
