Do you Find Agile Modeling Group Rude?
I recently sigend up with the Agile Modeling Group maillists - I was amazed at how rude some of the posters who also appear to be the main contributers - http://www.agilemodeling.com.
One of the major points of Agile Modeling is supposed to be humilty (or being humble) - hence open to even the most trivial request from client without ever appearing to be condecending.
But the mail list is loaded with pommpousity and condencending emails. This also include comments by the principal of the Agile Modeling site - Scott Ambler.
There are some tenets of Agile Modeling which is pretty reasonable but the practioners seem devoid of experience and positive customer service.

Well I guess they must be rude, as clicking on your link brings up a page saying I am on a banned list of IP addresses, given my ISP this must represent half the modern civilized world.

Actually, it's just the old "trailing punctuation added to URL" bug. Remove the trailing "." and the site comes up fine.

If you believe the people who post on Scott Ambler's mailing list are rude then don't participate.
There plenty of Agile methodologies out there for you to investigate. Some of the biggest XP evangelists who post online (Beck, Jefferies, Martin, etc.) seem to be quite friendly and tolerant of non-believers. You can find some of their posts at:

Not a knock to agile modeling, but I would beware of anyone he has to go to great lengths in telling you how great they are: 'Oh yeah, we're the humble guys/gals as opposed to all those others'! If you're humble, your actions will definitely show it.

Interesting note about the vested interests in UML.
There was a bitter note on scotts website once on how he did all the work for a ER modelling profile for UML only to be told by OMG that it was of to specific interest for them to bother. Guess whose ER modelling profile got adopted by OMG a month later. Starts with R... .
So Scott is a good guy who has been kicked in the teeth too.
That note dissappeared and i can not find it even on wayback machine.

I don't know why Ambler would be worried much about the decisions of a group of slackers who meet a few times a year in some exotic locale on their employers' dime to drink and cavort. It's not like OMG ever issued or produced anything of much value.
OMG is more of the ancient half-sunken ship carcass serving as a warning to others about some sand bar or reef.
If Ambler wants to be central in a notorious mutual admiration society like OMG -- perhaps needing better fluff for his dustjacket author blurbs -- he should buy more drinks at the meetings.
