talk with former manager Continuing from my previous thread of old company hiring, I talkd with my manager, and he said I was welcome to re apply. I am thinking of applying again, what do other people think?

Reapply. Unless you think you wouldn't be happy there - which you should have worked out by now. The worst that can happen is that you don't get the job.

Why would you not re-apply if you were invited to? This is your problem, your issue and your decision. It's not the decision of anyone on JOS, it's not the decision of your mom or dad or your dog or your aunt patty from guam. It's YOURS. What's so damn hard about re-applying?
Personally, I would not reapply to the company who let me go since the company would have the upper hand in negotiations. I cannot see any way you will get any bargaining power in this situation. Clearly they didn’t think of you before they re-posted the job.

One could argue that in this economy, those who do have the upper hand in negotiations are few and far between.
