ocr to ms word testing software

I need help in this area. Is there any method in which one can know whether the document is ocr traced or it is being manullay typed by the person.

I don't think this is possible at all. Many OCR programs just product text, and then the user just pastes it into word.

As far as word is concerned, it don’t know the difference.

About the only tell tell sign would be if the document was submitted as a rtf document. (often, the OCR program does not produce a word doc, but a more standard RTF doc that virtually all word processors can read).

However, some people even use, or save docs in rtf, so there is no proof at all.

So, your students can’t be fingered this way. And, yes, no doubt using OCR is a real time saver.

It is bad enough the students are copying the text from the book...but now they don’t even have to re-type it!!

I use OCR all the time to grab text from magazine articles.
