Help downloading MS VBA security patch

Saw the post on Slashdot about new security patches for MS Office (specifically VBA).

I went to Microsoft's page for the security alerts, but it appears that the only way to get the patch is to have them scan my machine. I would really rather not have MS do that. Does anyone know how/where I can just download the patch and install it myself?
(and for the love of god please don't tell me why Microsoft sux and Linux rulez)

There is an office download center at:

Yesterday's advisory is not there yet, but it may be posted there soon.

Why don't you want Microsoft to "scan" your machine? Is it just a matter of principle, or do you have a reason why you don'ty want to be informed of security patches that you might have overlooked?

As MS used SP1 for Office 2000 to completely disable  installations of Office on machines with a possible cracked serial number, (and didn't even bother to tell you it had done so!) then paranioia is quite justified here.

It's not so much that I don't want Microsoft scanning my machine -- it's that I don't want *anyone* scanning my machine. I just like to know what is being done to my computer.
So I guess it's principle (since I don't know specific details about the scan), but it's more of a technical principle than a political one.

And thank you Sir for the links.

Well, it's kinda principle, insofar as I don't have a specific technical reason for it. But it's not a "screw those microsoft bastards always rummaging around my machine grumble grumble" principle -- its more of a "I don't wa
